One way in

This site publishes numbers that people act on, so the most useful message it can receive is one saying that a number does not match the source it cites. That is what this form is mainly for.

The form

Reporting a wrong figure

Include the page, the figure as it appears, and what the source says. A correction that arrives with a citation gets made faster than one that does not, because the work of confirming it has already been done once.

A factual error in a published parameter is corrected as soon as it is confirmed and logged on corrections with the date and what changed. Errors that could affect a food safety decision are corrected first and logged afterwards.

Privacy requests

Requests for access, correction or deletion under the state privacy statutes, the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR come through this form. Choose the privacy subject so it is routed correctly. In practice the only personal data this site holds about a reader is a server log entry and, if you subscribed, an address on a mailing list, so say approximately when you visited or which address you used. What is held and why is set out on privacy.

Why there is no address

No email address is printed anywhere on this site. A published address on a site with thousands of pages is harvested within days and the useful mail then arrives in a folder with several thousand pieces of automated mail, which is a slow way of not answering people. The form reaches the same inbox and arrives with the page you were reading attached to it.

Nothing sensitive is collected here. There is no phone field, no postal address field and no upload, because none of them are needed to answer a message and all of them would have to be disclosed and retained.
